Hey, I’m Jillian!
About
Since moving to New York in 2005, I have enjoyed a diverse and exciting series of collaborations. Primarily a music director and vocal coach, I have also toured throughout the United States, United Kingdom, and New Zealand as a recitalist with various singers. At home in New York City, I have performed on many prestigious stages including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, and 54 Below.
Regionally I have worked as the Music Director and Conductor at the Paper Mill Playhouse, The Mac-Haydn Theater, Cape Fear Regional Theater, Theatre Workshop of Nantucket and Theatre Row. I am a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music (BM) and The Juilliard School (MM). I am a proud member of Maestra, Local 802, and Broadway Baby Mamas.
Vocal Coaching
My Teaching Experience
I am a passionate vocal coach and mentor who maintains both a private studio and a partnership with The Magaziner Vocal Studio working with students of all ages. I have a strong background in both classical and musical theater, and am also well-versed in pop/rock.
My Teaching Method
I believe it is imperative to be an artist, not just a singer. I will work with you to blend all 3 aspects of performance-musicality, interpretation, and healthy vocal technique. In our sessions, we will learn how to break down a song to discover the finer details, as well as zooming outward to see the bigger-picture.
I have helped many students gain confidence in their bodies and minds, and to unlock their talents to the fullest potential.
In our sessions we can:
Prepare for auditions
Build your repertoire book
Make audition cuts
Make tracks
Enhance your technique and performance
Work on phrasing/musicality
